Board Meeting Updates!!!
As a reminder, we're moving our meetings soon!
Every winter, the OPP Board migrates southeast to the warmer environs of the Orinda Library Gallery Room. In October-March, unless the weather is spectacular or there is an extenuating circumstance, our meetings will be at that location on the second Monday of the month at 7pm.

Annual Member Meeting and Board Election
Tuesday, November 12, 2024
Please save the date to attend our annual member meeting and board election on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 7pm at the Orinda Library Gallery Room.
This year we have three board positions up for election and the nominating committee has identified three candidates to fill them. Please read through the statements below and come show your support in November.
SECRETARY
Jake Blackshear (Incumbent)
My family has deep roots at OPP! Lauren grew up swimming here and was even a lifeguard in college. Now our two boys (10 and 13) spend almost every waking minute here in the summers, swimming at OMPA and repping OPP all over town. In addition to my 4 years of experience serving as the secretary at OPP, I have over 17 years of experience in nonprofit management at UCSF. It has been a pleasure to deepen my own connection to OPP over the past few years and I would love to continue supporting the organization by serving as secretary for another term.
MEMBERSHIP
Ari Hatton
I’m Ari Hatton and I would be honored to join Orinda Park Pool’s Board as Membership co-chair.
I truly believe Orinda Park Pool has a touch of magic. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is enormous. The membership community has a chill vibe and the swim team cultivates strong bodies and good hearts. My blood runs blue with how much I love this pool!
I live just a few houses away from OPP and you can find my two Stingrays (Kate 13 and Robby 11) there all summer long. I’ve served on the Wagner Ranch Parent’s Club board and am currently on the board for Orinda Intermediate. Volunteering in my community is very important to me and nothing would make me prouder than serving the pool I love so much.
Efficiency, organization, a positive attitude and a willingness to roll my sleeves up are just a few of the traits I think will be assets to this role. I would love your vote.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Ghazaleh Afshar
I would be interested in the special projects position on the board. Managing capital improvements for the pool is an exciting project that would allow me to use my strengths as a manager and hopefully leave improvements that my community and I can enjoy for many years to come. I was the Chief of Gynecologic surgery for many years at 2 large hospitals and enjoyed the responsibilities that came with the position. Management and finding common ground are skills of mine. Also, I have done various size projects in my home and am very comfortable working with contractors and holding them accountable both to their timelines and cost projections.
